The room feels too small now like the walls are closing in. The silence is suffocating, only broken by the quiet hum of Rehaan’s typing. He’s been relentless with his questions, and I don’t have answers. Hell, I barely have any understanding of what’s going on myself. But we’re getting closer. I can feel it.
Finally, Rehaan leans back in his chair, his fingers still tapping on the keys, though his gaze never strays from mine. “One thing I don’t get…” He narrows his eyes, staring me down. “How the hell was your car at the accident site? You were in fucking Hawaii. How does that even make sense?”
The question hits me like a sucker punch. I freeze. My mind races, but nothing makes sense. The image of my car at the scene, parked in front of the wreckage, flashes in my mind again. It’s impossible. I was thousands of miles away.
“I don’t know,” I say, my voice coming out hollow like I’m not even in my own body. “But it was there. My car… was at the site.”
